How To Guide - managing your business more simply.

See what I did there?! I want to address the current notion that it's easy to adopt and that is that business needs to be complex, slick, fast and highly technical to be successful.

Not true.

Simplicity is actually our friend when it comes to micro business ownership. We can more easily do all the things, but increasingly, that leads to overwhelm that none of us want.

Here are some tips and ideas to help you keep things more simple in your business:

  1. Do a simplicity audit of all the areas in your business (download the template below) to check in with how they're actually working for you or not. You will be surprised how often you realise you have software or systems you never use and an overly manual solution to processes you need to use more often. This isn't about throwing everything out but noticing where you can prioritise simplicity.

  2. Revisit your foundations so that you can be sure that the work you are doing is actually to the benefot of you, your business and your customers and not just a thing you do because someone mentioned it on Insta 3 years ago (I know I have done this!!). For example is your vision and mission still fit for purpose in this changing world? Are you still aligning your value with customers that have changed before you noticed?

  3. Prioritise what you really need to do in your business by completing the 'Ease/Impact tool below. This helps you clarify what a project might be and what you might want to avoid all together. In many ways, strategy is what you say no to.

  4. Don't fear analogue in a world of digital. Of course AI can help you withy our systems in the back end of your business. Of course it can used for research. But the valuable relationship building part of your business needs more love than ever. If adoptiong digital is overwhelming, think about sending a postcard or picking up the phone. Don't worry if you're not always online if you're meeting custoemrs in the real world. Better still embrace the counter intuitive and share it as an asset.

  5. Build repeatable processes in your business to simplify what you do. It might seem like a faff to do the creating, but what this process building really does is take any chaos out of your head and into a manageable system that works on autopilot.

As always, there are multiple tools and resources inside the Hub that can support this work or you can drop into one of Monday sessions for a catch up and ask questions about what you need most.
